As a DoorDash driver, you may occasionally face unforeseen circumstances that prevent you from completing an order.
Once the customer has placed an order through the app, DoorDash will assign a driver for the order.
Although the driver can’t cancel the order entirely. He can UNASSIGN the order. Unassigning will then have the order dispatched to another driver.
As a driver, how do you unassign a DoorDash order? Here’s how it works:
If you have already accepted an order but change your mind before completing the delivery, you can unassign the order by doing the following:
There is no need to contact support for unassignment if you have not picked up the order. It can all be done in-app.
Remember that unassigned orders count against your completion rating, and if it falls below 80%, you’ll be deleted from the platform.
You must deliver the order after it has been marked picked up.
Even if you have an emergency, you won’t be able to cancel or return the meal to the restaurant to be delivered by another Dasher using the app.
If you are unable to complete the delivery after the pickup because of an accident. As quickly as possible, call and explain to Dasher support. Doordash will dispatch additional Dashers to pick you up and deliver your order.
To unassign a DoorDash order, follow the steps outlined previously. It will usually ask which order you want to unassign; simply select the one you want to remove.
However, it does not always display the selection as it should.
Some Dashers recommend delivering the first order first, then unassigning the second order when the option reappears following delivery.
Another option is to contact customer support and have it removed.
Due to a variety of legitimate reasons, DoorDash drivers may occasionally cancel orders by contacting customer service. Here are a few examples:
There are a few actions you can take as a DoorDash driver to cancel or unassign an order.
First, try to call the consumer directly and explain the situation, as well as obtain their cancellation confirmation.
Suppose the customer refuses to cancel on their end. You can unassign the order with the app. However, it may have an impact on your completion rating.
If you’ve picked up the order and are having trouble completing the delivery, such as due to an accident, call DoorDash support and provide them with the order number and customer’s contact information to make further arrangements.
